A Book I Wrote 2024 - Story and Poem Writing Competition

Nehru Centre Library Mumbai and MomSays present A Book I Wrote – 2024

‘A Book I Wrote’ is an annual initiative of Nehru Centre Library and MomSays to encourage children to write, and give them a sense of accomplishment by creating a beautifully designed book with their poems and stories. These books are a testament to the fact that children have the ability to ‘author’ their ideas.

The book comprises winning poems and short stories written by children between 6–11 years as part of Nehru Centre Library and MomSays’ inter-school Children’s Day writing competition.

The theme for A Book I Wrote: 2024 is Gratitude: Fostering Stronger RelationshipsGratitude has the power to transform relationships as well as our well-being and to enrich our lives with positivity. Teaching young children to practice gratitude is important because it helps them develop a positive outlook, build strong relationships, and cultivate empathy and resilience, thus laying a foundation for lifelong emotional and social well-being.

This is an important life-skill that we must inculcate in our children.

Through poems and stories, ABIW 2024 hopes to encourage children aged 6 – 11 years of age how to express gratitude towards anyone or anything which is an invaluable part of their lives – their grandparents, parents, teachers, friends, a pet, nature or whatever else they feel they owe a ‘thank you to!’ Through their words, they will discover, as will the readers, how gratitude can brighten our lives and make the world a better place.

For this year’s competition, the child’s writing must adhere to 100 words for poems and 300 words for short stories.

Please fill the form below to enter the competition. The competition begins on July 29, 2024 and ends on August 10, 2024.
