WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY
(An Evening with Poets and their Creations)
World Environment Day is celebrated annually on
5 June and encourages awareness and action for the protection of the
environment. First held in 1973, it has been a platform for raising awareness
on environmental issues as marine pollution, overpopulation, global warming,
sustainable development and wildlife crime. World Environment Day is a global
platform for public outreach, with participation from over 143 countries
annually. The theme of World Environment Day 2023 is ‘Beat Plastic Pollution’.
As we celebrate the 50th anniversary of this very important day, it
should also be a reminder that people’s actions on plastic pollution matter and
the steps that governments and businesses are taking to tackle plastic
pollution are the consequence of this action.
Nehru Centre Library plans to play its own
little part by organizing an evening of poetry recitals with the theme to
celebrate the World Environment Day. You are cordially invited to join in
the programme. Please see the attached e-invite. The programme is open to all.
Do register on nehrucentrelibrary@gmail.com to confirm your participation.
