BOOK READING EVENT – LOST IN THE WOODS 21st FEBRUARY 2015
ReplyDeleteA book reading event was held on Saturday, 21st February, 2015 at Nehru Centre.
The name of the book was ‘Lost in the Woods’ written by a 10 year old girl Kashvee Barjatiya, student of Dhirubhai Ambani International School. The event was for students from four schools across Mumbai were invited. The schools were Jamnabai School; AVM School, Bandra; Don Bosco School, Matunga and Birla School.
Students mainly from class 4, 5 and 6 attended the event. It was to be an interactive session of the students with the author.
The event started at 10:00 am, where first Kashvee was introduced to the students by Ms. Desai, Librarian, Nehru Centre Library who had organized the event; after which Kashvee interacted with the students, telling them about her experience during the writing and also the publication of the book. She answered various questions asked by the student’s right from where she got the inspiration to write the book to her favourite genre in books.
After the interaction she read a few poems from her book and told how the poems and the story in the book are connected. The story is of 7 friends which is she and her friends who go for a picnic and get lost in the woods come across these characters from the poems who help them find a way back to the picnic spot.
During the session the students from these different schools were asked to write poems on a topic. They were also asked to suggest a topic to Kashvee for her to write a poem as well. As the time went by the students came up with different poems all very wonderfully written given the time span allotted to them. Kashvee also read some of her previously written poems one which was on ‘Board Exams’ a really well written poem.
When all the students had finished writing and reciting their poems they were asked to go outside and buy the book if they wanted it along with Kashvee’s autograph.
The event ended with a small photo session of all the students and their teachers with Kashvee.
A book reading session “Lost in the Woods” by 10 year old author-Kashvee.R.Barjatya was organized by Nehru Centre on 21st February 2015, Saturday at 10:00 a.m in the Hall of Harmony, Nehru Centre, Mumbai.
ReplyDeleteThe session started with a welcome address by Mrs. Arati Desai, Librarian and Documentation Officer of the Nehru Centre Library. Ms.Olivia, who hosted the session for the day then introduced the young author to the audience, who were children from various schools in Mumbai. Amongst the Schools who were invited for the Event, Jamnabai, AVM Bandra, Don Bosco Matunga and Gopi Birla School made their presence. These children were mostly from the 4th, 5th and 6th standards accompanied by their teachers.
The young author, Kashvee.R.Barjatya, who is a 10 year old student of Dhirubhai Ambani International School, Mumbai then started with her book reading by reciting her favorite poem from the book. Then speaking on her journey and her debut book, as questioned by the audience (her young friends) author Kashvee shared how at a tender age of 7, she use to narrate poems to her father, Shri Rajjat.A.Barjatya who is the Managing Director and CEO of Rajshri Entertainment Private Limited and he promised to weave them into a story and on the 27th January 2014, Kashvee’s first book “Lost in the Woods” was published by her father.
The young author then read few of the short stories from her book, which had picture images of the same and described her imagination behind her writing an adventurous book at such a young age. She said “I began my work on ‘Lost in the Woods’ when I was 7.” The story centers around Kashvee and her 6 friends who went for a picnic and gets lost in the woods and then she described about the adventure that was magical all the way.
The session got quite interactive in the latter half with all the children participating actively in the on-spot poetry writing. Kashvee along with them also wrote poem on the topic suggested by her friends. Everybody narrated their piece of writing and the session came to an end with a group photo session with the young author.
After the session ended, the children who were interested in purchasing the book got it from the counter outside and Kashvee autographed the books for the children. It was then followed by lunch for all the teachers and children and the staff members of the Nehru Centre Library and everything got wrapped up by 12:30 p.m.
The event on the discussion of the book Lost in the Woods was held on 21st February, 2015 at Nehru Centre. The author of the book was a 9-years-old girl, Kashvee Barjatiya and the book was published by Rajshri Publications. The event was attended by students studying in Class IV, V and VI from four different schools namely Don Bosco (Matunga), AVM (Bandra) Jamnabai Narsee School (Juhu) and Gopi Birla Memorial School.
ReplyDeleteKashvee Barjatiya who is just 10-years-old and a student of Dhirubhai Ambani International School was introduced to the audience by Mrs. Arati Desai. While interacting with the students, Kashvee told them that she had started writing the book when she was 7-years-old. Once her writing was done, a suitable graphic designer was finalized and then the book went for printing. It was launched in January 2014 at Hamleys, Mumbai.
Kashvee then read out some of her favorite poems and short stories from the book. During her further interaction, she spoke about her favorite characters from her book and her friends who also appear in the book. The students then asked her who her favorite author was. To this she replied – J.K. Rowling and Sudha Murty. She also added that she had been reading and listening to stories from her parents from the age of four and that her favorite genre was adventure.
On the demand of the students, Kashvee read out some of her other poems. Getting an inspiration from her, all students started writing their own poems on a plethora of topics such as pet dog, cow, and homework and so on. Together they tried to make a poem on the topic homework by each student adding two lines to what the previous student spoke.
The event ended with a group photo of all the students present and Kashvee signing their copies of ‘Lost in the Woods’.
