Kutch is a unique district of Gujarat, which resonates with natural beauty, culture, cuisine and mineral wealth in abundance. ‘Flowers of the Sun: The People and Land of Kutch c.1740 – 2020’ written by Dr. Mariam Dossal (ex-Professor, Dept. of History, Mumbai University) traces the rich and fascinating history of Kutch spanning three centuries. It highlights the strong Sufi tradition of Kutch, the shared love of the land and the awareness that survival in the harsh environment requires cooperation and innovation, ‘mil and mithas’, friendship and sweetness.

The Nehru Centre Library is pleased to invite you to a discussion on the book on August, 2nd 2025 at 4.00 pm. Dr. Yamini Dand Shah (Asst. Director & Asst. Library Visit - Young Architects from IMK Architects

It’s always such a pleasure to have Gen Z at the library with their freshness, uniqueness and young curious minds. So, when the group of 30 young architects from IMK Architects dropped in to better understand the setting up of the Nehru Centre Library and it’s functioning, we were delighted to show them around, explain the unique architectural features of the space and also discuss the services that the library offers. They were curious to know about the reason for ‘close access’ and appreciated our idea when we explained it to them. They were also fascinated with the scientific details that go into classifying and cataloguing all library material. Our hybrid i.e. digital/analog services impressed them too.  We took them on a guided tour and showed them each and every minute detail that was part of the design.

We are happy that we could spend some time with them as they looked around at the marvellous genius of Shri I M Kadri’s creation…

2. Winky The Careless Little Wizard - A fun Story About Being Responsible

3. Alabaloo The Lost Alien - A fun Story About Making Friends

All of these are a must-read for all kids. In fact parents, go ahead  and add them to your personal libraries.

SummerBookClub@LRT

Nandita Da Cunha was at the Nehru Centre Library this morning to talk about her new book 'The Five Fantastic Flights of Jeh'. It's a book about little JRD Tata and his dreams to become a pilot.

We loved having the kids and their parents to listen to the story.

We had the vibrant author duo Katie Bagli and Medha Rajadhyaksha today to talk about "Sugar, Spice and All Foods Nice", their new book of poems. With their chef caps on, they kept the mixed audience of children and adults so busy with games, painting and quizzing that time just whizzed by. The kids then queued up for the mandatory book sale and signing.
